50th Anniversary of City of Cape Canaveral

The City of Cape Canaveral's 50th anniversary started its Nine month celebration with a benefit concert
for its local elementary school band on September 29th, 2012. Hosted by Earth Awareness and Jack Link
Productions at the Manatee park in Cape Canaveral. The event was well attended with over 2000 people
gathered for a time of great  music, delicious food, critically acclaimed crafts and products from vendors,
dancing, drumming and more.

In the line up of rock bands, a group called the Hi Tide from the Caribbean, Grand Cayman Island’s
a quintessential island style music, the 2nd national headliner was Rocket
which featured the amazing piccolo bass work of LA session musician Paul Ill. Other groups
included, Space Coast favorite original band  The Bone Dogs, the mesmerizing tunes of Chuck Van Riper,
John Quinlivan Heartbreaker featuring vocalist Shelly Maloney, the trippy jam styling’s of New Gravity,
Entertainer of the Year in 2011 – The Spanks Band, hard rocking Starring Blind, the folk and country stylings  of Steve Hodak, Jon Parrot, Rich Deems and Eddie “ Willie Nelson “ Clevenger are already scheduled to perform.


The special logo for the city was designed by 13 year old 8th grader Tia Thomas from Cocoa
Beach High School. she won a multi-class art competition for the chosen design. City of Cape Canaveral
Mayor Rocky Randles read the proclamation and introduced the organizing committee organizer whereupon he he acknowledged the members of the organizing committee.

More plans are underway for the City of Cape Canaveral 50th Anniversary which includes
a South style Bar B Que on March 23, 2013. A time capsule is planned and the historian is taking suggestions for contents for it.
